EDANA Innovation Forum
11/06/2025-12/06/2025 - Station F, Paris
The EDANA Innovation Forum is a mix of presentations and insights, drawing from the nonwovens industry and from other forward-thinking industries. Beaulieu Fibres will also present.
Sophie Vandewalle, our Head of R&D Fibres will be sharing key insights on level together with Lode Daelemans, Professor Ghent University.
Title: Creating stronger nonwoven materials using mechanical simulations at the fiber level.
- Predictive Modeling: Development of a fiber-level finite element (FE) model for nonwoven geotextiles, based on Micro-CT scans and digital twin technology.
- Experimental Validation: Model calibration and validation against physical tensile tests, accurately predicting deformation and failure mechanisms.
- Parametric Fiber Studies: Numerical evaluation of key fiber properties—stiffness, yield strength, tenacity, elongation at break, and friction—without extensive physical testing.
- Efficiency and Innovation: A cost- and time-effective strategy to optimize fiber design and enhance non-woven material performance for geotextile applications.
